1 - Folgaria (Trentino) Folgaria is about an hour north of the Lake of Garda so is easily accessible from Verona, Venice Treviso or Venice Marco Polo Airport. It’s even possible to fly into Milan, making this a very well connected resort and with the shortest transfer time being just over 1 hour (from Verona airport) it makes the journey relatively short for the little ones.

The town centre has a lively vibrant feel to it, with shops, restaurants and bars, as well as entertainment venues such as a cinema/theatre, ice rink, sports hall for five-a-side football, volleyball and fitness and an indoor swimming pool. Facilities are all within close proximity and connected by ski bus and snow train service which you can bet your children will love!. These fun connections lead to the 80 km ski-runs of the Skitour dei Forti circuit. Folgaria also has the benefit of being well serviced by artificial snow systems so snow on the slopes is simply guaranteed whatever the winter weather and it ensures a great deal of fun for all skiers whether beginners or experts. Other opportunities for visitors include snowshoe hikes with the traditional "ciaspole" - as snowshoes are locally called - Nordic walking, orienteering, and tobogganing.

2 - Prato Nevoso (Piemonte)

Prato nevoso is one of Piedmont's most advanced ski resorts full of everything you would need to entertain families. The ski area stretches from the village at 1500m and up to 2300m on the Mondolè Mountain. The terrain ranges from gentle nursery slopes to challenging, well maintained slopes, and you can be sure to find the ideal terrain for your level of skiing. There are around 100 km slopes, 5 ski schools, a total of more than 170 trainers, a snowpark with half-pipe and border cross, and flood-lights covering two slopes served by a 4-seat chairlift.

Pratolandia is the Amusement Park for children from 0 to 12 years of age, created in Prato Nevoso's wonderful Bowl in a protected area of over 10,000 sq m.

Children can take part in educational, sports and recreational activities, all under the guidance of qualified instructors and organizers. There’s fun and entertainment of all kinds on the snow as well.

Another main advantage of Prato Nevoso is that it features one of the finest night skiing districts in the country, with over 8 km covering two slopes, a four-seated chair lift and full access to a snow park. Thanks to the presence of 3 ski schools all with highly qualified teachers Prato Nevoso is surely the most ideal place to be for those wanting to either learn or improve and refine their style on the snow. Prato Nevoso however is not only for ski lovers: thanks its numerous activities this resort is both fun and relaxing for all. 3 - Bardonecchia (Piemonte)

Bardonecchia is the most modern ski resort of the three offering a wide range of facilities. There are 100 km of slopes with 21 lifts carrying up to 30 000 people per hour, while artificial snow-making machinery provides perfect conditions for 38 km of the pistes.

In the evenings Bardonecchia is a nice quiet resort and your euro’s will stretch further here then in most other resorts of Italy as it offers good value for money with a good choice of eateries available

The slopes of Bardonecchia are divided into two distinct areas: a paradise for beginners and intermediates which offers scenic views of the area and off-piste skiing even in the springtime. The Olympic slope provides great adventures for skiers, whereas snowboarders will be most delighted to try out the only European Olympic Half Pipe and the Snow park at Melezet. There are 4 ski schools with 200 ski and snowboard instructors and a number of ski hire centres. The Pin del Colle area gives great opportunities both to the lovers of cross-country skiing and downhill skiers. You can leave your child in the very capable hands of the assistants at the Baby club, taking care of kids from 12 months to 6 years. Leaving you time to take a break at the various bars, restaurants and cafés along the slopes or use the time to sunbath. Or you can chose to do some of the more family friendly and fun sports together such as Skating, Dog Sledding or Swimming. For the adults there is also snowshoes trekking, tennis and fitness centre. Or for some well needed TLC and relaxation you can take advantage of the spa facilities including sauna, Turkish bath, massage zones and Jacuzzi.
