Money may be tighter than usual for some this year but there is no reason to sacrifice the annual visit to Italy. Holiday Homes in Italy have selected some holiday suggestions that won’t break the bank…..
Tuscany
Lucchio House - Tuscany does not have to be expensive! Explore the northern part of the region, where you have pretty mountain villages and live like an Italian for the week. This village property is close to the spa town of Bagni di Lucca with outdoor spas and also within reach of the coast for a day trip. £395 per week, sleeping up to 4 people.
Il Ponte Apt - who said City breaks were expensive? This studio apartment is located in the historical centre of Florence only 150m from the Ponte Vecchio bridge and sleeps 2! From £350 - £410 per week.
Le Marche
Castelfiorito - For a breath of fresh air and a mountain backdrop, this country residence offers spacious accommodation and is perfect for those who appreciate walking, cycling and other outdoor pursuits. £265.00 per week all season, sleeping up to 6!
Puglia
Masseria Monopoli - in May, September and October, this exquisite B&B is only £490 for two people for 7 nights. Eating out in Puglia is amongst the most reasonable regions in Italy, so no need to take too much spending money..
Sardinia
Villa Cagliari - Private villa sleeps up to 6 with garden, terraces and sea views only 30 mins from Cagliari. £400 per week in June and September.
Umbria
Rigone House - A quaint property in Umbria with two beds and a private garden only a few km from Lake Trasimeno and within reach of Umbria’s delightful hilltowns. £460 in May, June and September, sleeping up to 4 people.
Liguria
Apricale Cottage - 40 minutes from Monaco at a fraction of the price? This lovely restored cottage in Liguria has excellent views and is within easy reach of the Italian Riviera and the Cote d'azur. Sleeps 4. £460.00 in May, June and September.
Lake Garda
Antica Fabbrica - This one bed apartment sleeps 4 and is located in Riva del Garda in a pretty residence overlooking vineyards with a shared pool. £470.00 per week in May, most of June and September.
Calabria
Masseria Calabria - Quaint rustic Masseria in Calabria with panoramic swimming pool and a private beach close to the property. £285 per week sleeping two people in June and September; £405 in July and £475 in August.
And a few tips to keep the costs down this year:
Travel out of peak season – many parts of Italy offer excellent weather in May, September and October
Share a pool – apartments with shared pools, often offer better value than individual properties as additional maintenance costs are lower
Eat in – Italy has some fantastic restaurants but why not enjoy your terrace or garden and eat some fresh local produce from the market or buy reasonably at the local supermarket
Rent with other families; why not join forces and rent a larger property with friends, this will often cut the costs immensely – we have many villas like; Oak Forest Villa ; where the price per couple is only £413 based on 8 sharing in July and Aug.
Take a week – a week is better than nothing, so take a week this year and try a new area!
Be adventurous; if you love your holidays in Lake Garda or Chianti, then why not try something less well known this year. Lake Molveno in Trentino offers reasonable accommodation and great family activities at a fraction of the price of Garda:Residence Stefy ; from £300 to £410 in May, June and September for 4 sharing.
And Le Marche offers beautiful countryside, often similar to Tuscany with far less tourists. Stay in a renovated rustic countryside residence at a fraction of the price of its sister region: Case di Campagna ; £370 for two people in May and September; £420 in June and September.
