Large country house near Lucca

* Private swimming pool * Overlooking the plains of Lucca * Lovely traditional Tuscan stone house * 40km from the beaches of Versailles

Large and beautiful country house built in stone on the hills which overlook the plains of Lucca, surrounded by olive groves, vineyards and woods. It's a splendid location and looks over the surrounding area with its ancient villas belonging to nobles coming from Lucca.

The property has been carefully restored, keeping all its original features such as terracotta floors, wooden beams, typical traits of the rural Tuscany architecture and is an excellent choice for a family or two couples of friends with children who can alternate excursions in the city of Lucca to days on the beaches of Versilia.

The large sunny terrace in front of the house makes outdoor dinners fascinating also thanks to the view.  The terraced land includes a natural lawn where there is the swimming pool (12m x 6m) with garden furniture and shady areas.

Beautiful house and location
We throughly enjoyed our stay at Casi de Campagna, truly peaceful to perfectly relax. The house is beautiful with an authentic Tuscan vibe. There were a few irritations on check in such as no immediate contact with the mobile number provided, the line went to voicemail in Italian so we were not able to alert anyone about our delay, nor confirm that anyone would be there to meet us. Our instruction was to call one hour before arrival so with no contact we had no choice but to check that the villa was ready and 'then' go straight to the supermarket in a hurry, a good 15 minutes away as two of our party were due at a wedding and the other three of us, being left without a car for 24hours. The villa was ready, clean and we were pleasantly surprised at how lovely it was, the photos on the website if anything do not do it justice. The swimming pool was clean and maintained during our stay. The diving board gave it an extra dimension. One fair criticism is the hand over could be less stressful. The two ladies we met on arrival were pleasant but communication was impossible unless you have some handle on Italian. We were not told that we needed adapters for all the unplugged kitchen appliances etc, they had been stowed in a draw so we were not able to use the kitchen on the first night nor have access to the anti mosquito electric plugs. The bare essentials were at the absolute minimum, ie one toilet roll in each of the bathrooms, minimum washing up liquid and no washing powder etc. A nice touch though was leaving a small pot of jam, olive oil and a loaf of bread except this was stale, which was a shame.
