Cisternino has a charming old town centre that has remained virtually intact for centuries. Its whitewashed houses, narrow, shady streets, historic churches and elegant central piazza open out onto a series of panoramic view points from which visitors can take in the surrounding countryside.
Visitors will find the Norman Tower, as well as the Chiesa Madre dedicated to San Nicola, and the airy Piazza Vittorio Emanuele with its beautiful Clock Tower, both lovely and intriguing
The town has an active evening passeggiata when the residents go out and stroll about to meet for a chat or an aperitivo. a local peculiarity of meat markets where you choose what you want and they grill or roast it for you while you wait.
