Situated in a beautiful tranquil bay is Santa Maria di Leuca, one of the Salento's most visited towns. It is a popular destination for lovers of the sea and, in particular, divers keen to explore the numerous underwater caves which characterise this tretch of coast.
The iconic lighthouse, at 47m height and 102m above sea level is probably the 2nd most important in Italy behind the huge port of Genoa. From here it is possible to view the three seas of the Adriatic, Thrrhennian and Ionian all meet and is a fabulous place where you can enjoy both sunrise and sunset whilst eating in one of the many excellent eateries in town
The sandy beaches at nearby Felloniche, Posto Vecchio, Torre Vado and Pescoluse are excellent for families and well-equipped with lidos, bars, restaurants and other facilities. The port is the first thing that strikes immediately when you arrive located between Punta Ristola and Punta Meliso, it allows the boarding and disembarkation of fishing boats and passenger ships.
