On the northern tip of Lake Transimeno stands Passignano sul Trasimeno, the busiest resort of the region. A pleasant lakeside village with some excellent waterfront restaurants near the marina and the center of the village.
Water sports are popular here, in addition to tennis and horseback riding. Regular boats leave from Passignano for Polvese Island and Maggiore Island for a relaxing day on the water.
During late July there's an annual event called the Palio delle Barche, a battle of boating ability that re-enacts a battle between feuding nobles. With rowing races, boating activities, and flag-throwing competitions, parties and concerts, this is a good day out to enjoy. There is also a fish festival where you can eat seafood cooked in the largest frying-pan in the world, measuring 4.30m wide.
