Charming little villa in Spello town centre for 3 people1440
The Villa Spello is located in the splendid town the same name, which boasts ancient origins and, thanks to its enchanting beauty, is a member of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy (an association of a limited number of Italian villages which have maximized their historic and artistic patrimony and preserved a precious architectural harmony between the past and the present).
The house is accessed from inside the town walls along a peaceful alley that leads to the old town centre made up of very well-kept alleys decked with flowers and filled with small lively squares, excellent restaurants and wine shops. The owner has renovated this delightful little house with a class and taste that set it apart, creating an elegant atmosphere that is also modern, cosy and colourful: from the alley it is necessary to pass through a covered passageway furnished with a bench, colourful cushions and a coat-stand, to reach the private garden (100sqm) which overlooks the surrounding houses and the alley, with a table in the shade for outdoor dining and benches and loungers for relaxing in the sun, as well as the French doors that lead inside. From the windows it is possible to enjoy charming views of the alley, and from the balcony in the double bedroom there is a splendid view of the hills and the valley that stretch out from the edge of the town.
The result is a beautiful, comfortable, small refuge of great charm equipped with all the necessary amenities (air conditioning in every room, satellite TV, washing machine/dryer). Guests arriving by car are provided with a special permit by the owner so that they can access the residents-only area and park around 50 m from the house.
The same complex contains another 2 completely independent houses Casa Lunario and Casa Spello, which can extend the accommodation capacity to 15 people in the case of larger groups. Casa Lunario and Casa Spello, both with private swimming pool, are connected via an internal gate by going through the garden, whereas Casetta del Lunario is separated by a wall and a small alleyway.
Accommodation - size 55sqm - sleeping 3 people in 2 bedrooms & 1 bathroom
Ground floor - entrance from the alley into a covered space furnished with bench and coat-stand leading to the private garden (100sqm) with covered veranda for outdoor dining; French doors lead in to the living-room with fireplace and kitchen with dining table for 4; 1 small corridor with 1 single bedroom on the left, 1 bathroom with shower on the right, 1 double bedroom with panoramic balcony at the end.
Spello, a little village in Umbria not far from the famous town of Assisi, is undoubtedly one of the region's most precious gems, and it is no coincidence that it belongs to the "Borghi più belli d'Italia", an association that comprises only the towns that have succeeded in preserving their monuments and artistic masterpieces in perfect architectural harmony, along with a quality of life that can infuse a new rhythm and taste into our times.
Girdled by the circle of walls, in its narrow lanes, well-tended and decked with flowers, in the characteristic tower-houses and welcoming and lively squares, visitors can find all the evidence of its ancient history.

The moment we entered the villa we knew we had found something very special. Our hostess welcomed us with fresh fruit, vegetables, flowers, a bottle of local wine & had supplied a "book" with extremely helpful suggestions about local restaurants, shopping & activities. We woke in the mornings to a magnificent view from the french doors to the Umbrian valley below.
The spacious, herb filled garden was a great place to relax & read a book in the comfortable lounges , whilst the grapevine covered terrace with table & chairs was just the place to have our fresh pasta & a glass of "vino". There is a very good restaurant around the corner called il Cacciatore with a large outdoor terrace overlooking the valley which serves traditional local food & wine.
The town square is only a 5 minute walk away and has food & wine shops, art galleries, restaurants, post office, local buses. There is also a car hire facility. Spello is a good base from which to explore Umbria with towns like Foligno, Perugia, Assisi, Bevagna etc not far away.
In summary I cannot recommend highly enough. It has a charming and inviting atmosphere, fabulous views, gorgeous garden & terrace with thoughtful inclusions such as a a great selection of shopping baskets to choose from on your way to the village.
